Best Solar Panel Brands in India (2026): Top Manufacturers Compared

11 solar panel companies in India compared on capacity, own cells, cell type, efficiency, warranty and ALMM status, plus how to pick one for your roof.

Solar panels from several manufacturers standing upright in a row in a sunlit warehouse, a homeowner and an installer comparing two of them

India can now assemble far more solar panels than it can supply cells for. By June 2026 the country had 261.7 GW of module manufacturing capacity but only 36.6 GW of cell capacity, according to Mercom India. Since 1 June 2026, panels for subsidised and net-metered systems must use cells from MNRE's approved list, so which solar panel companies in India make their own cells now matters more than it did.

Most "top 10" lists ignore that. They rank brands by reputation and repeat the same praise, which leaves you no wiser when two quotations name two different makers.

This guide compares the 11 manufacturers we have reviewed in depth on criteria you can check yourself: stated capacity, own cells, cell technology, efficiency, warranty and ALMM status. It does not crown one "best" brand, because the right panel depends on your roof, and it does not price complete systems.

Key takeaways

  • Waaree is the largest Indian module maker by stated capacity, about 22.3 GW in December 2025, followed by Goldi at 15.2 GW.
  • Only some brands make their own cells. Adani, Tata Power Solar, Premier Energies and Emmvee do; Saatvik is building cell capacity. That matters for DCR panels.
  • Warranties split into two tiers. Adani, Vikram and Premier offer 12 years product and 30 years performance on their TOPCon ranges; RenewSys and Emmvee offer 10 and 25.
  • Two big brands make panels in Tamil Nadu: Tata Power Solar at Tirunelveli and Vikram Solar at Oragadam near Chennai.
  • The installer decides more than the brand. Subsidy eligibility, structure, wiring and warranty claims all turn on what the installer writes down and does.

Five of the eleven are themselves listed on the stock exchanges: Premier Energies (August 2024), Waaree (October 2024), Vikram Solar (August 2025), Saatvik (2025) and Emmvee (November 2025). Adani Solar and Tata Power Solar are part of the Adani and Tata Power groups.

What each solar panel brand is known for

  • Waaree: scale and speed. The widest catalogue, and standard home panels ship in 7 to 14 days, which helps when a subsidy deadline is close.
  • Goldi Solar: value. BloombergNEF Tier 1, and usually cheaper than Waaree or Adani on a like-for-like datasheet.
  • Rayzon Solar: fast growth, from 40 MW in 2017 to 11.3 GW, with a strong published warranty curve but a short track record.
  • Premier Energies: an integrated southern maker whose DCR panels use its own Hyderabad cells.
  • Emmvee: the only Indian company to pass all seven Kiwa PVEL 2024 reliability tests, and on both ALMM lists.
  • Vikram Solar: the efficiency leader among Indian makers, priced at the premium end.
  • RenewSys: makes the encapsulant and backsheet that keep moisture out, and holds Kiwa PVEL Top Performer status for 2026.
  • Saatvik: a 12-year product warranty, with panels, inverters and EPC from one company.
  • Tata Power Solar: making panels since 1989, with the deepest service network and fastest claims turnaround of any Indian brand.
  • Adani Solar: the most vertically integrated, from ingot to module at one site, with a price edge on Mono PERC.
  • Loom Solar: sells online at listed prices, including small panels the large makers do not.

Which solar panel company is best for your roof?

There is no single best solar panel company in India; there is a best fit. Match the brand to what your roof and situation need:

  • You want service in year twelve, far from a metro: Tata Power Solar.
  • You have a subsidy deadline: Waaree, for lead time.
  • Your roof is small and your bill high: Vikram's Hypersol or Waaree's HJT, for watts per square foot.
  • Your roof is large and the budget tight: a value DCR panel from Goldi, Rayzon or Adani's Mono PERC.
  • You want an integrated maker in the south: Premier Energies or Emmvee.
  • You want panels made in Tamil Nadu: Tata (Tirunelveli) or Vikram (Oragadam).
  • You need a 100 W panel for a battery or boat: Loom Solar.

Decide the cell type first. Our guide to types of solar panels explains why TOPCon usually suits a Chennai terrace, and TOPCon vs Mono PERC covers when PERC still wins.

Solar panel manufacturers in Tamil Nadu and Chennai

Tamil Nadu is one of India's three biggest module-making states, with 23.4 GW of module capacity and 4.3 GW of cell capacity as of June 2026, Mercom reports. For rooftop buyers, three plants matter:

  • Tata Power Solar, Tirunelveli: a 4.3 GW cell and module plant, India's largest at a single location.
  • Vikram Solar, Oragadam: about 40 km from Chennai.
  • First Solar, Sriperumbudur: a 3.3 GW thin-film plant opened in 2024, building panels mainly for utility-scale farms rather than homes.

Emmvee in Bengaluru and Premier Energies and RenewSys in Hyderabad are the next shortest supply lines to Chennai.

Does the brand change the price?

Less than most buyers expect. Q2 2026 procurement benchmarks put Waaree Mono PERC at ₹17 to ₹19 a watt and TOPCon at ₹19 to ₹22. Tata Power Solar sits about ₹2 a watt higher in each band, and Adani about ₹1 below Tata on Mono PERC, level on TOPCon. Vikram, Premier, Emmvee, RenewSys, Saatvik, Goldi and Rayzon do not publish rate cards. Treat these as brand-to-brand comparisons only: DCR panels, which the home subsidy requires, typically cost about ₹23 to ₹26 a watt.

On a 3 kW home, the Tata to Waaree gap is about ₹6,000, and on 5 kW about ₹10,000. A 3 kW system in Chennai starts at about ₹2,10,000 before subsidy, and panels are roughly half of it. The other half, inverter, structure, cabling, protection and installation, decides more about how your system lasts. See solar panel price in Chennai for system prices and solar panel price by wattage for single panels.

Why the installer matters more than the brand

Every brand above is on the ALMM list. What fails homeowners is usually the installation, in four ways:

The model on the bill of materials. ALMM status belongs to a model, not a brand. Some quotes put a big name on the cover page and a generic import on the bill of materials, and the subsidy inspection catches it after the panels are on your roof.

The structure. Chennai is a 50 m/s wind zone with salt air near the coast. A painted mild steel frame starts rusting within a couple of monsoons, whatever panel sits on it.

Wiring and protection. Undersized cable, missing surge protection and poor earthing cause more failures than panels do.

The paperwork for a claim. Panel warranties are won on serial numbers photographed at commissioning. Workmanship faults are not covered by the panel maker at all.

Before you sign, ask for the panel make, model and datasheet in writing, the DCR certificate, the structure specification, and who handles a warranty claim. How to verify a solar company lists the registrations you can check yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best solar panel company in India?

No single company is best for every roof. Tata Power Solar leads on service, Waaree on price and supply speed, Adani on Mono PERC cost, Vikram on efficiency, and Premier and Emmvee as integrated southern makers. Choose by your roof size, budget and the installer's support.

What are the top 10 solar panel companies in India?

By stated module capacity, the largest we cover are Waaree, Goldi, Rayzon, Premier Energies, Emmvee, Vikram Solar, RenewSys, Saatvik, Tata Power Solar and Adani Solar. Loom Solar is smaller but widely bought online. Capacity measures size, not quality.

Who is the largest solar panel manufacturer in India?

Waaree, with about 22.3 GW of module capacity in December 2025, 19.7 GW of it in India.

Which solar panel companies are listed on the stock market?

Premier Energies (August 2024), Waaree (October 2024), Vikram Solar (August 2025), Saatvik (2025) and Emmvee (November 2025) are listed on the NSE and BSE. Adani Solar and Tata Power Solar are units of the Adani and Tata Power groups rather than separately listed companies.

Which is better, Tata or Waaree solar panels?

Waaree is about ₹2 a watt cheaper, ships faster and has a wider range. Tata has the deeper service network and quicker claims. For a tight subsidy deadline, Waaree; for long-term service, Tata.

Are all these brands eligible for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?

All eleven sell panels that can qualify, but eligibility is checked by model, not brand. The exact model must be a DCR panel on the current ALMM list, installed by a registered vendor.

Which solar panel manufacturers are in Tamil Nadu?

Tata Power Solar makes cells and modules at Tirunelveli, Vikram Solar makes modules at Oragadam near Chennai, and First Solar makes thin-film panels, mainly for utility projects, at Sriperumbudur.

Does the installer matter more than the panel brand?

Usually, yes. The installer decides the model on your bill of materials, the structure, the wiring and the commissioning records a warranty claim needs. A good panel badly installed fails sooner than an average panel installed well.

Where this fits

Each brand has its own review, linked in the first table. For the technology behind the brand, read types of solar panels. To compare quotations per watt, use is your solar quote too high, and for claims, solar panel warranty claim in India. Inverter and battery brands that also sell panels are covered in UTL Solar and Luminous Solar.

Blues Renewables does not make panels and is not tied to any brand. Since 2020 we have installed Tata, Waaree, Adani, Vikram, Premier and the other ALMM-listed brands for homes from 3 kW, apartments, businesses and factories across Tamil Nadu. Every quotation names the panel model, not just the brand, and if a cheaper panel is right for your roof we will say so. Every system includes two years of free maintenance.
