Editorial policy

Most of what this site publishes is about other people’s money: what a system costs, what the subsidy pays, how much a roof will generate, how long the payback takes. Those numbers move — tariffs are revised, subsidy slabs change, ALMM lists are amended. This page sets out where our figures come from, who checks them, how often, and what we do when we get one wrong.

It also states the obvious conflict plainly: we sell solar. That is a reason to read our numbers carefully, and a reason for us to be able to show our sources.

Content is written and reviewed in-house. Technical and regulatory pages — system sizing, net metering, subsidy eligibility, component standards — are reviewed by Gibson Remigio, founder of Blues Renewables, who holds a post-graduate diploma in Solar Energy Technology from the Indian Institute of Solar Energy and co-ordinated solar projects for the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project before founding the company.

Nothing on this site is published by an outside agency, a guest contributor or a link-building service. We do not accept paid guest posts.

Regulatory and price claims are checked against primary sources, in this order of authority:

• MNRE and the PM Surya Ghar National Portal for subsidy slabs, eligibility rules and application procedure.
• TNERC tariff orders for domestic and commercial tariff slabs, and for net metering and net billing regulations in Tamil Nadu.
• TANGEDCO circulars and section-office practice for application procedure, inspection and meter fitting — noting where practice varies between sections, because it does.
• The ALMM list and IS/IEC standards for what may be installed on a subsidised project.
• Manufacturer datasheets for component performance, degradation and warranty terms.
• Our own commissioned projects in Chennai for generation, cost ranges and timelines — identified as our own data when used, never presented as an industry average.

Every generation, saving and payback figure on this site is an estimate produced from stated assumptions, not a promise. The assumptions our calculators use are held in one place and applied consistently across the site, so a figure on the price page and the same figure in the calculator cannot drift apart.

• Generation is modelled on roughly 1,600–1,650 units per kW per year for Chennai, which is a conservative real-world figure rather than a datasheet peak.
• Cost ranges are market ranges for the specification we actually install, not the cheapest possible bill of materials.
• Subsidy figures follow the current PM Surya Ghar slabs and the residential cap, and are dated on the page.
• Payback is calculated before financing cost unless the page says otherwise.

Where a figure depends on something we cannot know from a web page — shading, roof type, cable run, sanctioned load — we say so rather than quoting a single precise number.

Pages carrying tariff, subsidy or regulatory figures are reviewed whenever a change is notified, and in any case at least once a quarter. Pages carrying prices are reviewed at least twice a year, and whenever component prices move materially.

The footer of every page states the date the subsidy and tariff figures were last confirmed. If that date looks stale to you, treat the figure as stale and call us — do not assume it was re-checked silently.

If something here is wrong, we would rather hear it from you than leave it up. Email info@bluesrenewables.com with the page and what you believe is incorrect.

• We check the claim against the primary source, normally within three working days.
• A factual error affecting money, eligibility or safety is corrected immediately on confirmation.
• A material correction is noted on the page rather than quietly overwritten, so you can see what changed.
• Typographical fixes and clarifications are made without a note.

We are a solar EPC company. Pages on this site exist partly to bring us work, and we do not pretend otherwise. Within that, three rules hold:

• No paid placement. No brand, manufacturer or financier pays to be recommended, named or ranked on this site. Component recommendations reflect what we install and why.
• No affiliate links. We earn nothing from an outbound link. Links to government portals and regulators exist so you can check us.
• No manufactured urgency. We do not publish countdown timers, invented deadlines or claims that a subsidy is about to end unless a notified deadline actually exists.

Where our commercial interest and your interest genuinely diverge — a roof too shaded to be worth it, a system size your sanctioned load will not carry — the page says so.

AI tools may be used for drafting, editing and structuring text. They are not used to generate facts, figures or regulatory claims, and nothing is published without a human review by someone who can be held to it.

Every number that reaches a published page is checked against a source by a person. If AI-drafted text is wrong, that is our error and not the tool’s.

Photographs on this site are used to illustrate the type of work described. Where an image shows a specific project of ours, the caption says so. We do not present stock imagery, renders or AI-generated images as photographs of completed Blues Renewables installations, and we do not use images of a competitor’s work.

• Guaranteed returns, guaranteed generation figures, or savings claims stated as certainties.
• Subsidy amounts or eligibility rules we have not confirmed against the National Portal or the notification.
• Customer names, addresses, consumer numbers, bills or photographs without written permission.
• Comparative claims about named competitors.
• Reviews or testimonials we have written, bought, or incentivised.
