Luminous Solar in 2026: Panels, Inverters, Batteries, Price and Warranty

What Luminous makes in 2026, its solar panel, inverter and battery prices from its own store, warranty terms, ALMM status, and the customer care contacts.

A Luminous logo above a row of bifacial solar panels on a white terrace, with a hybrid inverter and battery mounted on the stair-room wall behind them

Luminous built its name on home inverters and tubular batteries, and most Indian homes with a power backup box have met the brand. Since March 2024 it has also made its own solar panels, at a plant in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, and in September 2026 it announced ₹2,000 crore of investment over five years in solar manufacturing and energy storage.

So a quote for "Luminous solar" could mean a panel, an on-grid inverter, a hybrid inverter, a battery, or all four, each with its own price and warranty. Meanwhile, the dealer listings that rank for "Luminous solar panel price" still show old polycrystalline panels.

This guide covers what Luminous sells in 2026, what it costs on Luminous's own store, how the warranty reads model by model, ALMM and PM Surya Ghar status, and where the brand fits on a Tamil Nadu roof. One clarification first: reviews of "Luminous Solar", a US installer, often show up in searches. That is a different company.

Key takeaways

  • Luminous Power Technologies was founded in 1988 and has been owned by Schneider Electric since 2011 (74 percent) and fully since 2017. It is based in Gurgaon.
  • It makes panels at Rudrapur and is building a 1.2 GW cell plant at Gopalpur, Odisha, with first output expected in May 2027.
  • Store prices are lower than most people expect: a 585 W TOPCon panel at ₹12,299 and a 3 kW on-grid inverter at ₹22,000 on 4 October 2026, including GST.
  • The panel warranty is 12 years on the product, with 30 years of output cover on TOPCon but 25 years on the Mono PERC DCR panels, whatever the category page says.
  • Luminous is on ALMM List-I with DCR Mono PERC and TOPCon models, and some TOPCon models are made under a co-branding deal by Knack Energy in Gujarat.

Luminous Solar: the company behind it

Luminous Power Technologies was founded in 1988 by Rakesh Malhotra and grew into one of India's best-known inverter and battery brands. Schneider Electric bought 74 percent in 2011 and the remaining 26 percent in January 2017, for about ₹950 crore. When the Rudrapur panel plant opened in 2024, Luminous was still described as a Schneider Electric subsidiary, with a Schneider executive as board chairman. Vivek Abrol became MD and CEO on 19 January 2026.

On its own site, Luminous claims eight manufacturing units, a channel network of more than one lakh partners, over 6,000 employees and sales in 41 countries. Its support page lists more than 350 service centres and 2,000 field service engineers.

Where Luminous makes things

  • Rudrapur, Uttarakhand: the solar panel plant, inaugurated on 28 March 2024 at 250 MW and designed to expand to 1 GW. It is listed under ALMM at the SIDCUL Pantnagar estate.
  • Gagret (Himachal Pradesh), Haridwar (Uttarakhand) and Hosur (Tamil Nadu): other manufacturing sites named by the company in September 2026.
  • Baddi, Himachal Pradesh: a 500 MWh lithium-ion battery assembly line, commissioned in January 2026, making packs from 1.2 kWh to 16 kWh.
  • Gopalpur and Angul, Odisha: a 1.2 GW solar cell plant that will supply Rudrapur, due to produce its first batch in May 2027, and an energy storage plant.

Until Gopalpur runs, Luminous buys its cells, like most Indian module makers. Its stated focus is residential rooftop solar and small businesses.

Luminous solar panel range in 2026

Luminous now sells two panel families on its store. The old polycrystalline panels that dealer sites still list are no longer in the range.

  • LUM 24585TG144 BI-GL - Type: Eon TOPCon bifacial, glass back, DCR: No, Wattage: 585 W, Efficiency (from published size): about 22.6 percent, Store price, 4 Oct 2026: ₹12,299
  • LUM 24585T144 BI-TS - Type: Eon TOPCon bifacial, DCR: No, Wattage: 585 W, Efficiency (from published size): about 22.6 percent, Store price, 4 Oct 2026: ₹14,499
  • LUM 24590T144 BI-TS - Type: Eon TOPCon bifacial, DCR: No, Wattage: 590 W, Efficiency (from published size): about 22.8 percent, Store price, 4 Oct 2026: ₹15,499
  • LUM 24590TG144 BI-GL - Type: Eon TOPCon bifacial, glass back, DCR: No, Wattage: 590 W, Efficiency (from published size): about 22.8 percent, Store price, 4 Oct 2026: ₹20,000
  • LUM 24550M BI-TS - Type: Mono PERC half cut, DCR: Yes, Wattage: 550 W, Efficiency (from published size): about 21.3 percent, Store price, 4 Oct 2026: ₹11,534
  • LUM 24545M BI-TS - Type: Mono PERC half cut, DCR: Yes, Wattage: 545 W, Efficiency (from published size): about 21.1 percent, Store price, 4 Oct 2026: ₹16,899
  • LUM 24540M BI-TS - Type: Mono PERC half cut, DCR: Yes, Wattage: 540 W, Efficiency (from published size): about 20.9 percent, Store price, 4 Oct 2026: ₹22,000

Efficiency here is worked out from the rated power and the published size of 2,278 by 1,134 mm, because the store pages do not print it. The Eon range runs from 575 W to 595 W, and Luminous describes both families as BIS certified and ALMM approved.

The split matters for a home in Tamil Nadu. Only the Mono PERC DCR panels qualify for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy. The Eon TOPCon panels are non-DCR, so they suit businesses, or homes that are not claiming subsidy. Our TOPCon vs Mono PERC guide explains when the newer cell earns back its cost.

Luminous solar inverters and batteries

Luminous sells three kinds of solar inverter, and the warranty changes sharply between them.

On-grid (NXI series). Models from 2 kW to 15 kW, with MPPT. On 4 October 2026: NXI 120 (2 kW) ₹20,899, NXI T130 (3 kW) ₹22,000, NXI 150 (5 kW) ₹36,599, NXI 310 (10 kW) ₹72,199. Most carry 8 years standard plus 2 extended; the T-series models show 10 years.

Hybrid (Solar Hybrid TX, TX Max and HF NXH). TX models run from 3 kVA, the TX Max range reaches 30 kVA, and the HF NXH series covers 3 to 12 kVA. Prices: TX 3.75 kVA ₹49,299, TX 5 kVA ₹63,899, TX Max 10 kVA ₹2,34,999. TX models carry 36 months; Luminous says selected NXH models carry up to 120 months. A hybrid on a Tamil Nadu net meter brings its own rules, covered in our TANGEDCO hybrid inverter rules post.

Off-grid solar UPS (NXG and Solarverter PRO). The NXG range runs from 500 VA at ₹5,599 to 2 kVA at ₹12,899, and the Solarverter PRO 2 kVA eco is ₹21,799. These carry 36 months. For the charger inside them, see MPPT vs PWM charge controllers.

Batteries. The solar battery range is C10 tubular, in L and H series. The LPTT 12150L (150 Ah) is ₹17,499 with 60 months of warranty, the LPTT 12150H is ₹19,099 with 72 months, and 200 Ah models are ₹23,699 (L) and ₹24,799 (H). Both need a water top-up every 8 to 10 months. Our solar battery price guide compares them with lithium per usable unit.

Luminous solar panel price and system cost in 2026

Luminous publishes prices, including GST, on its own store, which most module makers never do. On 4 October 2026, its panels worked out to:

  • Eon TOPCon (non-DCR): about ₹21 to ₹34 a watt, from ₹12,299 for 585 W to ₹20,000 for 590 W
  • Mono PERC DCR: about ₹21 to ₹41 a watt, from ₹11,534 for 550 W to ₹22,000 for 540 W

The spread inside each family is wide, and the DCR panels showed "Enquire Now" rather than a cart button, so treat those prices as indicative. For context, JMK Research's Q4 2025 benchmark put non-DCR modules at ₹14.3 to ₹14.9 a watt and DCR modules at about ₹23 to ₹26, which is closer to what installers pay in bulk. For prices across brands, see solar panel price by wattage.

Luminous does not publish prices for complete rooftop systems. Its on-grid page offers design, site survey, financing and installation through its network, priced per job.

What about a Luminous 2 kW system?

People search for the "Luminous solar panel 2kW price", but there is no published 2 kW package. At store prices, four 550 W DCR panels (₹46,136) and an NXI 120 inverter (₹20,899) come to about ₹67,000. That is parts only: no structure, cables, earthing, labour, net meter or paperwork. A 2 kW home system qualifies for ₹60,000 of central subsidy, against ₹78,000 from 3 kW, which is one reason many Tamil Nadu homes go to 3 kW.

For a complete installed system, a 3 kW plant in Chennai costs about ₹2,10,000 before subsidy and about ₹1,10,000 after the central and state subsidies. The 3 kW and 5 kW price pages show what an installed price includes, and is your solar quote too high shows how to reduce any quote to a per-watt figure.

Luminous warranty, model by model

  • Eon TOPCon panels - Product warranty: 12 years, Output or extended cover: 30 years linear: 1 percent loss in year one, 0.45 percent a year to year 30
  • Mono PERC DCR panels - Product warranty: 12 years, Output or extended cover: 25 years linear: 2 percent in year one, 0.55 percent a year to year 25
  • NXI on-grid inverters - Product warranty: 8 years plus 2 extended (10 on T-series), Output or extended cover:
  • Hybrid TX and off-grid NXG - Product warranty: 36 months, Output or extended cover:
  • Tubular solar batteries - Product warranty: 36 to 72 months by model, Output or extended cover:

One detail to catch: the Luminous solar panel category page says both panel families carry a 30-year performance warranty, but the product page for the DCR Mono PERC panel says 25 years. Go by the product page and the warranty card for your model. Since the DCR panels are the ones homes buy for subsidy, the difference matters.

Keep the invoice, panel serial numbers and commissioning photographs. Our solar panel warranty claim guide explains why those decide most claims.

ALMM, DCR and the PM Surya Ghar subsidy

The MNRE's ALMM List-I, revised on 16 September 2026, lists Luminous Power Technologies at its Rudrapur plant with Mono PERC models, including the LUM 24540M to 24570M series, and bifacial TOPCon models, with one TOPCon entry enlisted at 1,659 MW a year. The store models above, such as the LUM 24550M and LUM 24585TG144, appear on the list. In the May 2026 revision, Luminous added 1,095 MW of enlisted capacity, as Energetica India reported.

The list also shows a co-ALMM entry: some Luminous TOPCon models, ending in KE16A and KE16B, are made by Knack Energy at Kadi in Gujarat under a co-branding agreement. That is legal and listed, but it means the factory depends on the exact model number.

The PM Surya Ghar subsidy pays ₹78,000 for a home system of 3 kW or more, and Tamil Nadu adds ₹22,000 for homes registered from 5 August 2026. Both need DCR modules and a vendor registered on the national portal. With Luminous, that means the Mono PERC DCR range, not the Eon TOPCon range. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy guide covers the steps.

Where Luminous is strong, and where to be careful

Strong on service reach. More than 350 service centres and 2,000 field engineers, with call logging by WhatsApp and IVR, is a bigger network than most panel makers have.

Strong on inverters and batteries. If you want backup, Luminous has a full range of hybrids, solar UPS units and tubular batteries from one company.

Be careful with mixed warranties. A Luminous system can pair a 12-year panel with a 36-month hybrid inverter, and the DCR panel's output cover is 25 years, not the 30-year headline. Ask which models are quoted.

Be careful with old listings. Dealer pages selling small poly panels describe a range Luminous no longer shows.

Luminous vs the alternatives

Against UTL, Luminous is the closest match: both started in inverters and batteries and now make panels. Luminous has the larger service network; UTL publishes more of its range, including complete kits. See UTL Solar in 2026.

Against module specialists such as Waaree, Tata Power Solar and Vikram Solar, Luminous is newer to panels and has no large utility-scale record. It makes more sense when you want one brand for panels, inverter and backup.

Luminous solar customer care and dealers

Luminous's own site lists:

The official site is luminousindia.com, with solar products under the Solar Solutions menu. For a "Luminous solar dealer near me", use the store locator and service centre locator on the support page, and ask for an invoice that names the model numbers. How to verify a solar company covers the installer checks.
