Vanagaram solar: saline borewells, low cables and new homes
The Hindu reported in February 2025 that groundwater has turned saline in most parts of Vanagaram and that, without piped supply, many households buy water from private tankers. That affects how panels here should be cleaned.
Do not clean panels with saline borewell water
Where borewell water is saline or hard, it leaves a white mineral film on glass as it dries, and that film cuts output just as dust does. In Vanagaram, where The Hindu found groundwater saline in most parts, panels should be cleaned with stored tanker or supply water, or with collected rainwater, using a soft brush early in the morning. A 5 kW array needs only a few buckets per wash. If your only water is from the borewell, use a dry soft brush between monsoons and a short final rinse with soft water, so salt is not baked onto the glass.
Overhead cables near your terrace
The Hindu reported overhead power cables criss-crossing residential streets in Vanagaram, with high-tension wires hanging near windows and balconies on some, and residents asking for them to be moved underground.
