About Blues Renewables

We are a rooftop solar EPC company in Chennai. Since 2020 we have designed, built and commissioned on-grid, off-grid and hybrid solar systems for homes, apartment associations, factories, schools and hospitals across Tamil Nadu — and filed the subsidy and net metering paperwork that goes with them.

Owner-operated, not a franchise. The person who surveys your roof works for the same company that installs it, files your subsidy and answers the phone in year four.

What we do

One company from the survey to the fourth-year service call

Blues Renewables is an EPC company — engineering, procurement and construction. In plain terms: we survey the roof, size the system against your actual consumption, design the array and the mounting structure, procure the components, install and commission the plant, file the subsidy and net metering applications, and service what we built.

That single chain matters more than it sounds. Most of what goes wrong with rooftop solar in Chennai is a handover problem — the dealer who sold it is not the contractor who installed it, and neither of them filed the net metering application. When one company carries all of it, there is nobody to point at.

We work on both sides of the meter: residential rooftops claiming the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, and commercial and industrial plants where the arithmetic is self-consumption, demand charges and depreciation rather than subsidy.

How a project runs

Six stages, and what each one actually involves

A straightforward residential project runs six to ten weeks end to end. Most of that is approvals, not installation — the panels go up in two or three days.

01

Site survey and load study

We measure the usable, shade-free roof area, check the sanctioned load and the name on your service connection, look at the structure and the cable run, and read your last four bills. This is where problems surface — a connection in a parent’s name, a sanctioned load below the system size, a water tank casting afternoon shade.

02

Sizing, design and a written quotation

You get a system size tied to your consumption, a shadow-free layout, a structure design for your roof type, and an itemised quotation naming the panel and inverter make and model. Not a per-kW round number.

03

Subsidy and net metering filing

We file the PM Surya Ghar application on the National Portal and the net metering application with TANGEDCO, and follow both through feasibility approval. No separate charge for this — it is part of the project.

04

Structure fabrication and installation

Galvanised structure fabricated for your roof, panels mounted with the required clearance, DC and AC cabling in conduit, earthing and lightning arrestor, inverter and protection installed at the board. Two to three days on site for a domestic system.

05

Inspection, net meter and commissioning

TANGEDCO inspects, the net meter is fitted and the plant is commissioned. We hand over the commissioning report, the single-line diagram, the warranty documents and the component serial numbers, and register the plant for generation monitoring.

06

Service, and the years after

Panel cleaning schedule, generation checks against the design figure, and warranty claims handled by us rather than by you and the manufacturer. This is the stage most companies quietly skip, and the reason we keep component records on file.

Standards

What we install, and what we will not

ALMM-listed modules

Subsidised projects require modules from the ALMM list and cells from the approved list. We name the make and model on the quotation, and the serial numbers appear on your handover file.

Inverters sized to the array

DC/AC ratio kept within the manufacturer’s window, string voltages checked against Chennai’s temperature range, and a warranty registered in your name, not the installer’s.

Structure built for coastal wind

Hot-dip galvanised structure, designed for the wind zone rather than the cheapest section that will hold a panel in still air. Chennai is a cyclone-exposed coast and the structure is where corners get cut.

Earthing and protection, always

Separate earthing for array, inverter and lightning arrestor, DC and AC protection at the board, and cabling in conduit. None of it is visible in a photograph, which is exactly why it is the first thing dropped from a cheap quote.

Documentation you keep

Commissioning report, single-line diagram, component serials, warranty certificates and the subsidy and net metering acknowledgements. If you sell the property, this file is what proves the plant is legitimate.

What we decline

Roofs too shaded to reach the generation we would promise, system sizes beyond a sanctioned load the customer will not enhance, and quotations stripped of earthing or structure to match a lower bid. We would rather lose the order than commission a plant that underperforms its estimate.

Common questions

About the company

Blues Renewables was founded in 2020 by Gibson Remigio, who is the Founder and CEO. It is owner-operated — not a franchise, not a dealership, and not a lead-generation agency that passes your enquiry to a third-party installer.

Yes. The business is registered as an MSME under Udyam Registration Number UDYAM-TN-02-0495778, and every quotation and invoice is raised under that registered entity with the number printed on it. Ask any solar company for its registration details before you pay an advance — a company that will not put them on a quotation is telling you something.

Our own team does the survey, the structure, the installation and the commissioning. Sub-contracting is where accountability disappears: when the crew that installed your system does not work for the company that warranties it, service calls go unanswered.

All of Chennai and the districts of Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur for residential work. Commercial and industrial projects we take across Tamil Nadu, including Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Salem, Hosur and Madurai.

Yes, and at no separate charge. We file the National Portal application, the TANGEDCO net metering application and the inspection paperwork, and follow them through to the subsidy transfer. See the PM Surya Ghar process for what that involves.

Since 2020. Long enough to have systems in the field past their fourth summer, which is the point at which installation shortcuts — poor earthing, thin structure, undersized cable — usually start to show.

Call us, not the manufacturer. We hold your component serial numbers and warranty certificates on file and raise the claim ourselves. Panel and inverter warranties are registered in your name at commissioning so the cover is yours even if you sell the property.

Yes. Indicative per-kW ranges and worked post-subsidy examples are on the solar panel price in Chennai page, with the assumptions stated. A binding number needs a site survey, because roof type and cable run genuinely change it.
